Villanova released their 2012 football schedule today, finalizing an 8-game CAA slate as well as 3 non-conference match-ups. The season begins on Friday, August 31, 2012 with the final installment of the 4-game Mayors Cup series against Temple, to be held at Lincoln Financial Field. A week later on September 8, Villanova will open their home schedule at Villanova Stadium, hosting the Fordham Rams.
Their first game outside the Philadelphia area comes with a September 29 trip to Orono, Maine to take on the Black Bears. The 'Cats will travel to both of the furthest reaches of the CAA football map this fall, also traveling to Atlanta, to take on newcomers Georgia State at the GeorgiaDome.
Homecoming will be held on October 27, when the Wildcats host Towson.
Villanova will have their bye week on November 3rd before taking on James Madison at home and ending the season at Delaware on November 17th.
It has been rumored that one or more games could be moved from the Main Line to PPL Park in Chester, but no announcement to that affect has yet been made as details will still need to be finalized. According to Villanova spokesman Dean Kennefick, "Sites and times of games have not been determined." The final determination of time and place for each game will be released later in the Spring.
