Rumored hoops coaching change denied

(Updated)Rumors leaked out of the Washington D.C. area this morning that Jay Wright has added Team Takeover (AAU) 16u head coach and Paul IV (HS) recruiting coordinator Doug Martin to his staff. Martin had worked with Team Takeover for the past few years and has sent multiple players on to earn Division I scholarships in the Big East, ACC and Patriot League.

Sources close to the program have denied that there have not been any changes to the coaching staff at the moment. Doug Martin did visit Villanova recently with one of his players, Stanford Robinson, who plays for him at Paul VI.

Martin had been an assistant coach and Director of Player Personnel for the LaCrosse (Wis.) Bobcats of the minor-league CBA. He also played professionally in Australia and South America after concluding his playing career at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay in 1995.

Martin will help Wright's recruitment efforts with players in the "DMV" area, comprised of Washington D.C. and its immediate suburbs in Virginia and Maryland. It is similar to the hiring of Keith Urgo out of Gonzaga High School in 2007 to become a video coordinator and later Director of Basketball operations (Urgo was also briefly promoted to assistant coach).

Until further notice, however, it seems that there is not much to this story.
