Coaching staff shuffling

Rumors of Doug Martin's addition to the Villanova basketball coaching stagg emerged a few months ago, and though sources close to the program denied the addition, it appears likely to happen. Martin is currently coaching with Paul VI high school in the DC area as well as in the Team Takeover AAU organization, giving him excellent contacts in the DC area recruiting scene.

Nothing is official with Martin, however, but don't be surprised to hear an announcement before basketball season gets underway.

It is rumored that Doug West intends to leave the staff again to pursue other opportunities, which would create an opening for Martin's addition.

Another "new" face coming to the Davis Center will be Curtis Sumpter. The former Wildcat legend will take on a position formerly held by Iowa assistant Andrew Francis. He has been working with the team this summer at the Davis Center, and is comfortable with his decision to end his playing career.

Sumpter will participate in The BALL exhibition game this month with Allan Ray and Reggie Redding in what will be his last professional game.
