Villanova Football Recruiting Roundup: Plonski Stars In Upset

Each Friday we post the weekend schedule for the future members of the Villanova Wildcats football team as well as a "big board" of recruits. If you're local to any of these guys and check them out, let us know how they looked!

Villanova football has 3 verbal commitments from Thomas Plonski, Lorenzo Fertitta, Jr. and Lincoln Collins. Only two of the recruits, Plonski and Fertitta, were in action this past weekend as Lincoln Collins and BC High had the week off.

As you'll see below, Plonski continues to be a monster on the defensive line for Tech, while Fertitta got a chance to show some ability on offense after featuring mostly on the defensive side of the ball for Bishop Gorman this season.

DL Thomas Plonski | Brooklyn Tech (NY) - (3-2)

Last Game: Tech scored a big time upset over New Utrecht 34-12. Plonski was a monster in this game, recording 7 tackles (1 for loss) and 2 sacks.

Next Game: 10/12 at Grand Street Campus (NY) 12:00 pm ET

Information on Villanova football recruiting isn't as easily obtained as similar updates on basketball recruits. That is at least partially a product of the level of each team, with Big East basketball prospects having enough exposure to always be on the media radar. It is also a process of the AAU machine, which brings tremendous numbers of high-level talents into the same gyms on a weekly basis for most of the high school basketball offseason.

Football has 7-on-7 competitions, but the real bulk of recruiting revolves around the high school seasons still, which means that Villanova's recruits tend to be busy playing meaningful games during the bulk of their recruitment.

VUhoops isn't prepared to slack and deprive our readers of this football recruiting information. We hope to offer regular updates on the football recruiting picture -- as we find them. It may not always be a complete picture, but it will be a window on the program's recruiting effort.
