Villanova Soccer Loses To Syracuse 2-0 At Home

Villanova's 7-match unbeaten run came to an end at the hands of the Orange.

Villanova had not lost a game dating back to September 16th, but that streak came to a tough end on Wednesday at the West Campus Soccer Complex as Syracuse handed the team their first loss of the Big East campaign 2-0.

The 1st half was a rather dull affair as both teams went into the break without anything to show for their efforts, but the second half would see things pick up. Villanova thought they had grabbed the lead through Kyle Soroka in the 55th minute but he was ruled offside and the goal was disallowed.

"We just didn't seem to be ourselves after that," stated Carlin. "The momentum shifted to Syracuse and they were able to take advantage."

Syracuse would find the lead in the 68th minute when Lars Muller headed in a feed from Louis Clark. Villanova began to press in search of the equalizer but was unable to succeed.

Syracuse killed off the game in the 89th minute when Jordan Vale's shot was only partially saved by John Fogarty before trickling into the goal.

Villanova returns to action on Saturday when they host Louisville.
