Coaches & Players

Head Coach: Bobby Wilder was hired in 2007 to resurrect the Monarchs' program after a 69-year absence from the field. In 5 short years, they have become perhaps the most successful start-up program in FCS history after finishing the 2011 season ranked #10 in the country with a 10-3 record and are an early favorite for the FCS national championship in 2012 as they look to move on to the FBS ranks in a few short years.

Top Assistants: Brian Scott, maybe somewhat not surprisingly, is a former star QB at Maine and now is in his 6th season running the offense for ODU, which has become by far the most lethal offense in the country. Bill Dee is in his first season as the Monarch's defensive coordinator and is leading a unit that is trying to catch up to its offensive counterpart.

Most Famous Football Alum: Ronnie Cameron, a star defensive tackle in the early stages of ODU's rebirth, was hoping to be the first ever ODU player drafted in last year's NFL Draft, but was not selected. He was invited to the Chicago Bears minicamp where he was eventually claimed off of waivers by the Cleveland Browns.

Key Offensive Players: QB Taylor Heinicke | RB Colby Goodwyn | WR Nick Mayers

Key Defensive Players: DL Chris Burnette | LB Craig Wilkins | DB Eriq Lewis
