Tyrone Johnson to decide between Illinois & South Carolina

Sophomore transfer would be eligible in Fall of 2013.

Debby Wong-US PRESSWIRE

At the beginning of November, Tyrone Johnson made it known to the Villanova coaching staff that he wanted to leavethe Main Line campus and began seeking a school to transfer to. Johnson has remained on campus attending class and practicing with the team as he has been working out where he will end up.

Today Jon Rothstein of CBS noted that Johnson is down to two for his final decision- Illinois or South Carolina.

The 6'3" guard from Plainfield, NJ who averaged 3.3pts and 2.0 assists per game as a freshman will be eligible to play in the Fall 2013 semester.

Although a tough-nosed defender, it was widely thought that Tyrone would be seeing limited action this season at the point with the elevated play of freshman point guard Ryan Arcidiacono. Throw in Tony Chennault's immediate eligibility and Rice-transfer Dylan Ennis becoming eligible next fall and Johnson was most likely not going to be getting the court time he thought he deserved.
