Opponent Profile: The Maine Black Bears, are a member of the Colonial Athletic Association for football only. They play hockey in Hockey East and all of their other sports compete in the America East conference. Maine finished the 2011 season 9-4, and finished 6-2 in the CAA to finish in a 3-way tie for 2nd place. Maine received an at-large bid to the FCS playoffs where they eventually fell to Georgia Southern in the quarterfinals.

Coaches & Players
Head Coach: Jack Cosgrove is the lifeblood of the Maine football program. He is in his 20th season at the helm of the football program, and is the leading all-time coach in wins (106) and has participated in over 300 Maine football games both as a player, assistant coach, and head coach. Cosgrove is a former QB at Maine and has led the Black Bears to two Atlantic-10 conference championships in his time in charge.
Top Assistants: Kevin Bourgoin has been in charge of the offense since the 2007 season and Maine has consistently boasted one of the top passing attacks in the CAA in recent years under his direction. Paul Ferraro joined the staff this season to take over the defense. He previously spent the past 3 season with the St. Louis Rams coaching the linebackers.
Most Famous Football Alum: Maine isn't really known for putting football players into the league, but in 2006 one of their alums took home an award at the NFL Draft. Kevin McMahan was taken with the final pick in the draft by the Oakland Raiders, earning him the Mr. Irrelevant moniker.
