Prowling The Roster: #85 Kevin Gulyas

We're counting down the days to Villanova's season opener by profiling every player on the roster.

#85 WR Kevin Gulyas

Sophomore, 5'11" 190 lbs.

Allentown, PA

2012 Stats: In 2012, Gulyas played in six games, grabbing three receptions for 34 yards.

Depth Chart Position: After joining the 'Cats as a walk-on player last season, Gulyas should be a scholarship athlete this fall. He put in a good effort as a Freshman and should earn a little more prominence on the depth chart as a sophomore, but there is still a few more experienced options ahead of him. He will likely serve in a back-up role again this season.

How He Came To Villanova: Gulyas was a star at Allentown Central Catholic in High School, but despite setting records at the Lehigh Valley school, he was not heavily recruited byFBS schools. He was a Big 33 game selection after his senior season at ACC. He chose Villanova late in the process and accepted an offer to walk-on after the 2012 class was already overbooked for scholarships.

Expected Output In 2013: Gulyas is a talented player at a position where Villanova has a wealth of talent. That could slow his production down, but his role will increase from last season, especially if he can play a little on the outside. He has good hands and has the capability to fight for some yards after the catch. The former lacrosse star is likely to play a more featured role at Villanova at some point before he graduates, but since he may have to phase into that role gradually, don't expect a super-star output from him this Fall. He should be solid in the chances he gets.
