#84 TE Morgan Craig
Junior, 6'2" 250 lbs.
Clarks Summit, PA
2012 Stats: Craig recorded only one reception for 8 yards and served as a blocking option at tight end in 2012.
Depth Chart Position: Craig's size and blocking ability add to the teams' ability to run the ball, but he will take a back seat to fellow Earnest Pettway in the starting lineup, since the other tight end is a more dynamic receiving threat. Craig will see plenty of action in 2013, however, serving as the primary backup if Pettway goes down, and seeing time when an additional blocker is called for.
How He Came To Villanova: Craig attended Abington Heights High School, where he was First Team All-State as a senior in 2010. He was a Big 33 game selection and the County Defensive Player of the Year for his efforts on the Abington Heights defensive line. He chose Villanova over offers from a number of MAC conference schools.
Expected Output In 2013: Morgan Craig is one of only two true tight ends on the Villanova roster, which means that his opportunities to get on the field should be pretty healthy this season. However, as a block-first player, Craig's role in the passing game is unlikely to garner him any big time receiving stats. He will get a few opportunities to grab a ball, but his numbers in that respect may not improve dramatically from his sophomore effort. His blocking output, however, should remain strong and Craig will be able to help the offense by buying some time for the backfield to work.
