#3 WR Mike Burke IV
Sophomore, 6'2" 210 lbs.
Columbia, PA
2012 Stats: As a freshman backup, Burke grabbed just two passes for 19 yards and no scores.
Depth Chart Position: Burke's height and hands make him an ideal target on the field, but he looks a little bit like a clone of Joe Price. His hands and size will earn him an increase in playing time this season and he should be right behind the starters at outside receiver on the depth chart this fall, but it remains to be seen if he can be more productive than fellow sophomore Kevin Gulyas.
How He Came To Villanova: After visiting BYU, Syracuse, Pitt and Towson, and receiving interest from Albany, Akron, Boston College, Bowling Green, The Citadel, UConn, Delaware, Maine, Monmouth, SMU and West Virginia, Burke settled on Villanova as the best fit for his talents at receiver. In high school, he received varsity letters in football, baseball, basketball and track.
Expected Output In 2013: With Norm White gone, Burke should get more opportunities to catch a ball. Though he wasn't targeted often last season, he saw an increasing amount of time on the field as the year progressed. Burke should be able to use his size to pull down some passes this season. Regardless of how many yards he totals, however, Burke is likely to be a contributor as a blocker in the running game, which is a vital skill for Villanova's receivers.
