Prowling The Roster: #52 Pat Williams

We're counting down the days to Villanova's season opener by profiling every player on the roster.

#52 DT Pat Williams

Junior, 5'11" 300lbs.

Ft. Lauderdale, FL

2012 Stats: The big-bodied Williams played his first games on the Main Line last fall, recording 10.5 total tackles (8 solo, 4 assisted) and notched one tackle for a loss.

Depth Chart Position: Pat Williams could earn significant time at nose guard this season and our early two-deep projection has him slotting in there and sliding Antoine Lewis over to end. If Lewis holds on to start at nose, Williams will likely be the top backup at that position and would play alongside Lewis in situations calling for more bulk in the trenches.

How He Came To Villanova: Williams was originally committed to play at the University at Buffalo, a MAC school, but he changed his mind during his senior season at the University School and opted to come to Villanova. He was an All-State honoree in high school and was the Sun Sentinel Defensive Player of the year, notching 99 tackles, 19 sacks and three forced fumbles as a senior.

Expected Output In 2013: Williams should see an increase in playing time this season, whether he starts or not. His strength and size make him a formidable presence on the line. Look for a big up-tick in tackles and maybe a few opportunities to earn a sack or two as well.
