Prowling The Roster: #50 Dan Shirey

We're counting down the days to Villanova's season opener by profiling every player on the roster.

#50 OL Dan Shirey

(RS) Senior, 6'3" 285 lbs.

Feasterville, PA

2012 Stats: Shirey missed the season after suffering an achilles injury during spring practice.

Depth Chart Position: A captain, Shirey will slot back into his starting position at center and will be the leader of the offensive line.

How He Came To Villanova: Shirey attended Neshaminy High School where he was an All-League, All-State and Big 33 selection on the defensive side of the ball. Shirey transitioned to the offensive line early in his career and has made himself an All-American caliber player.

Expected Output In 2013: There weren't any reported issues with Shirey's achilles in spring ball, so we expect him to be healthy entering the season. Shirey was named a preseason 3rd Team All-American by TSN (and ironically left off the preseason CAA team), so he'll be expected to return to his pre-injury form and help what should be a dominating Villanova offensive line.
