Prowling The Roster: #22 WR Jamal Abdur-Rahman

We're counting down the days to Villanova's season opener by profiling every player on the roster.

#22 WR Jamal Abdur-Rahman

Sophomore, 5'9" 175 lbs.

Philadelphia, PA

2012 Stats: JAR sat out the 2012 season after being suspended off-campus disciplinary reasons.

Depth Chart Position: Abdur-Rahman is slated to start at the slot receiver position, where he will be able to catch passes as well as take handoffs out of the backfield.

How He Came To Villanova: JAR played his high school ball for La Salle under Drew and Brett Gordon, both prolific quarterbacks for Villanova that were influential in his decision to stay close to home. He was being scouted by several FBS schools including Temple and Purdue but hadn't been offered.

Expected Output In 2013: A year off can bring rust for anybody, so it will be interesting to see how well JAR adjusts to a year on the sidelines. He was a breakout star during his freshman season, with the highlight coming at the end of the year with a 291 all-purpose yard performance against Delaware at PPL Park. Abdur-Rahman should be one of the top playmakers on the team, and is without a doubt the biggest home run threat on the Villanova roster.
