Prowling The Roster: #12 QB Chris Polony

We're counting down the days to Villanova's season opener by profiling every player on the roster.

Eric Hartline-US PRESSWIRE

#12 QB Chris Polony

Junior, 6'3" 210 lbs.

Whitehall, PA

2012 Stats: Polony started the Temple game, but was removed for John Robertson when the offense began to stall. He briefly cameo'd later in the year when Robertson went down with an injury, and led the team on a touchdown drive. He finished the season 6-13 for 56 yards with 1 TD and 1 INT.

Depth Chart Position: Polony is the primary backup to John Robertson.

How He Came To Villanova: Polony was 1st Team All-League and Honorable Mention All-State at Whitehall High School.

Expected Output In 2013: John Robertson's nature as a running QB leave him exposed to injury often, and Polony now has the experience to navigate the Villanova offense and keep it churning, as he proved late last season when he was called upon. While he doesn't offer the running threat that Robertson does, he's a capable passer. If Polony gets action in 2013, it means that Robertson is injured, or Villanova is their opponent out and the second string is in. Let's hope it's the latter (no offense, Chris!).
