Villanova heads south to Tampa on Wednesday for a mid-week BIG EAST matchup against South Florida.
The Wildcats (10-4, 1--0) are coming off of an overtime win against St. John's at The Pavilion; a game that saw freshman Ryan Arcidiacono drop 32 on the Red Storm with JayVaughn Pinkston adding 26 off the bench.
USF (9-4, 0-1) lost at home to #7 Syracuse on Sunday, 44-55. Victor Rudd, who is leading the Bulls in scoring and rebounding for the season, did as much against the Orange with 15 points and 11 boards.
Historically, Villanova holds the all-time edge against USF with a 5-4. However, USF head coach Stan Heath has had Jay Wright's number for the past four meetings as South Florida has knocked 'Nova out of the BIG EAST Tournament for the past two seasons as well as taking both conference matchups in 2012.
For Villanova fans who cringe at the Wildcats' 83rd overall Points Scoring ranking and 251st for Field Goal Percentage, they will be facing a USF squad who has a hard time scoring. The Bulls rank 242nd in the NCAA in scoring and 222nd in Field Goal Percentage.
Here is a comparison of the teams' leaders.
Team Leaders | Villanova | USF |
---|---|---|
Points | Jayvaughn Pinkston- 13.2 | Victor Rudd- 11.5 |
Rebounds | Mouphtaou Yarou- 5.2 | V. Rudd- 8.1 |

Wednesday's tipoff is set for 805p from the Sun Dome. The game will be broadcast locally on PHL-17.
