Villanova to play Maryland in secret scrimmage

The secret scrimmage, a yearly tradition unlike any other.

Streeter Lecka

It's a yearly tradition, the "secret scrimmage." Colleges find a nearby school who they won't face in the upcoming season and play a scrimmage to check their own team out.

No publicity.

No scoreboard.

No stats.

No fans.

In previous years, 'Nova has traveled to George Washington and Fordham. This Sunday, Jay Wright's Villanova Wildcats squad will travel to College Park to play Mark Turgeon's Maryland Terrapins according to ESPN's Jeff Goodman.

Details are usually tight-lipped, but we'll report anything we hear from either side. We'll be keeping our eyes peeled to Testudo Times, SB Nation's Maryland blog as well.
