Preseason Basketball AP Poll Top 25: Villanova receiving votes

The initial AP poll has been released - surprise, surprise, Villanova was not ranked.

Mark Zerof-USA TODAY Sports

Kentucky is the preseason team to beat in College Basketball.

John Calipari's squad has been tabbed with the #1 ranking to start the 2013-14 season garnering 27 of  the 65 votes. Michigan St., Louisville, and Duke also received first votes and followed the Lexington school.

Marquette is the lone Big East team in the rankings, at #17. In no surprise to most Villanova fans, the Wildcats are not included in the Top 25, but are receiving votes along with conference rivals Creighton, Georgetown, and St. John's.
