Villanova performed admirably at Saturday's 2013 NCAA Cross Championships in Terra Haute, IN.
Senior Emily Lipari, placed 5th overall in the women's field of 253 covering the 6,000 meter course in 20:10.8- 7.5 seconds off the champion.
Nicky Akande finished in 43rd place for the Lady Wildcats, followed by Stephanie Schappert (91st), Sydney Harris (153rd), Angel Piccirillo (217th), Caitlin Bungo (249th), and Julie Williams (250th) as Villanova finished 19th.
Providence won their second NCAA Championship. Also representing the Big East, Butler finished 3rd and Georgetown finished 5th.
On the men's side, Patrick Tiernan ended his freshman campaign with a 9th place overall finish pacing the shortened 10K course in 30:15.7.
Sam McEntee (27th), Brian Basili (143rd), Rob Denault (160th), Harry Warnick (170th), Alex Tully (188th), and Jordy Williamsz (205th) were Villanova's other finishers as the team finished 18th overall. Colorado won the men's title and fellow Big East Member, Providence, finished 16th.
The Villanova Women have claimed 9 NCAA Cross Country Championships and the Wildcat Men have been Champions four times.
