The Sun's Arizin: Villanova Wildcats news and links for November 26, 2013

Daily Villanova Wildcats links, today featuring disdain for the City 6, XC All-Americans, and the BIG EAST's bad day.

Hello from Hilton Head Island, friends of the \\V//! Vacation has commenced and I'm locked and loaded for the Battle 4 Atlantis. We have a chance to do some major resume-padding this weekend, and as you'll see in the links below, really establish ourselves as the cream of the crop in the BIG EAST.

Somebody take Andrew Wiggins on a banana boat ride during Friday's game (yes, I'm THAT confident we will be there Friday, jinxes aren't real...I think).

And now, the "news."

Josh Hart one of the early surprises in the City 6 | City of Basketball Love
Somehow though, the La Salle 'Best Team in the City' Explorers 3-4 start is not on this list. Weird. And while I know people want to make Drexel feel included, but can we just stick to the Big 5? As a City 6 soccer participant in college (against Drexel, actually), I hate the notion that we needed to create a new group for them. Can't we just go back to ostracizing them like the good old days?

Tiernan and McEntee Named All-Americans | Villanova University Official Athletic Site
This is your weekly reminder that our XC program is pretty damn good. Tiernan has 3 more years left on the Maine Line, while McEntee will head into his final season as a 5-time All-American across XC and Indoor and Outdoor Track & Field.

Emily Lipari Earns Second Straight Cross Country All-America Honor | Villanova University Official Athletic Site
Oh Sam McEntee, you've got some work to do. Emily Lipari is a 7-time All-American now across all 3 running sports, and she's still got two track seasons left.

Christ the King sophomore Rawle Alkins set to become next big player on New York City | NY Daily News
Love the questions reporters ask recruits, and I love when recruits respond in a confused manner. We should try this tactic on Jay Wright at the next press conference. "Jay, was your goal to win the game tonight?"

USC Leaves For The Bahamas, Faces Villanova In First Game | University of Southern California Official Athletic Site
I did not realize that Seth Davis would be on the call from The Bahamas. I thought he was strictly a studio man. This should actually be a treat - Seth Davis : Doug Gottlieb :: Ice Cream : Broken Glass.

Maryland Defeats Providence, Wins Paradise Jam After Blowing 19 Point 2nd Half Lead | Testudo Times
The first chink in the armor of the Providence Friars - and hell they almost came back! Still though, I think they rely way too much on Bryce Cotton. If he has nights like this (6-17) often, Providence will struggle.

Not Quite Enough: Maquette falls to Arizona St. | Anonymous Eagle
A block in the final seconds from Jordan Bachynski sealed the game for Arizona State at home. That's just the type of game you don't expect a Buzz Williams' led team to lose. Side note: This Jahii Carson fellow is pretty good. Try to catch an ASU game if you have the chance just to see him play.

Shockers crush DePaul to reach CBE Hall of Fame finals | SBNation.com
Not that I was expecting DePaul to win - Wichita St. is very good - but I hoped that Ryan may have reversed jinxed them enough to keep this a bit more competitive.

Xavier v. Abilene Christian: Boxscore Breakdown | Banners On The Parkway
On the plus side for the conference, Xavier continues to get the job done, even if their fans aren't pleased with the 28-point victory. That sounds so familiar.
