The CAA has released their post-season award list, and among the 1st, 2nd and 3rd teams, Villanova Wildcats players took home 10 awards. If you like conspiracy theories, you'll like what follows.
Rakim Cox was the lone Villanovan on the 1st team, while John Robertson, a Walter Payton Award finalist, was placed on the 2nd team in favor of Maine quarterback Marcus Wasilewski. Don't get me wrong, Wasilewski and Maine had a great year. But I didn't even think this was a debate. I'll leave it up to you to decide if the coaches got this right:
Player A (12 games): 255-370 (68.9%), 3009 yards, 23 TD, 7 INT | 141 rushes for 461 yards (3.2 avg), 3 TD
Player B (11 games): 169-247 (68.4%), 1957 yards, 13 TD, 7 INT | 217 rush for 1405 yards (6.5 avg.), 20 TD
Robertson was joined by Josh Bucci, Antoine Lewis, Don Cherry and Craig James on the 2nd team, while Kevin Monangai, Ross Hall, Cameron McCurry and Mark Hamilton were given 3rd team honors.
