BIG EAST Power Rankings: Top dogs!

The VU Hoops staff ranks the BIG EAST from best to worst.

Kevin Jairaj-USA TODAY Sports

The latest VU Hoops BIG EAST Power Rankings (which run weekly on Tuesdays) are out, and you are going to like what you see. Under threat of being fired from this blog The voters are in unanimous agreement that your Villanova Wildcats are the best team in the BIG EAST!

Also of note, every team in the conference is currently about .500. When is the last time THAT happened? (We're looking squarely at you, DePaul).

Finally, one voter abstained again this week.. He's the one who has been playing with his calculator lately (no, it's not Kevin). But being as he's one of the better loyalists on the blog, it's safe to say that he would have put Villanova first too.

Here are your VUhoops Power Rankings:

1. Villanova (8) - 7-0

"YAAAAAAYYYYYY #weback." - MikeReilly

2. Creighton - 5-2

"Teams are discovering how to contain McDermott. The answer, of course, is through Villanova transfers (Isaiah Armwood)." - kevin.pulsifer

3. Marquette - 5-3

"Everyone else had them at 3 and I didn't want to look stupid." - jeremy.menninger

4. Georgetown - 4-2

"The VCU win was impressive. I'm eying December 21st when they play at Kansas. Both teams loathe 'Nova." - rsaccoma2016

5. Butler - 5-2

"They've surprised a lot of people. Almost taking down a Top 5 Oklahoma St. team does not go unnoticed." - kevin.pulsifer

6. Providence - 7-2

"Every Big East team but Villanova has at least two losses, but Providence’s two losses are ‘better’ than the rest of them, so they move up to number-2 for me this week — and I would do a Gary Parrish-style Poll-Attack piece on everyone who had them lower." - Brian Ewart

7. St. John's - 5-2

"They need to spread the basketball around more. They send out five Carmelo Anthony's every time they break out of a timeout." - rsaccoma2016

8. Xavier - 5-3

"Will be interesting to see how they rebound with two soft games before the big rivalry game with Cincinnati. The blown lead against Iowa clearly sent them into a bad spiral in The Bahamas." - Chris Lane

9. DePaul - 4-3

"SHOCKER ALERT. DePaul is up a notch in my book after this week's win. That puts them at notch 1." - kevin.pulsifer

10. Seton Hall - 4-3

"Who will finish in last place, DePaul or Seton Hall? Time will tell!" - jeremy.menninger

Thoughts? How would you have ranked the teams differently?
