Villanova football recruiting: WR Matt Brown commits as a preferred walk-on

Matt Brown, a 5'9" 175 lb. WR/RB/DB from Malvern Prep, has committed to the Villanova Wildcats as a preferred walk-on for 2014. Brown, who committed to Andy Talley in November, confirmed his commitment to VUhoops early Tuesday afternoon.

Brown was recruited by Assistant Head Coach/Offensive Line Coach Mark Ferrante. Ferrante offered Brown a spot on the team in late November, and Brown jumped at the opportunity as Villanova had been his first choice for college all along. As a preferred walk-on in the FCS' reduced scholarship structure, , Brown will have the opportunity to earn a full scholarship with good performance down the road at Villanova.

Despite playing primarily as both a running back and a defensive back for Malvern Prep in high school, Brown will be lining up as a slot receiver for Villanova, while also being thrown in the mix to return punts.
