On Saturday afternoon at Villanova Stadium, the unranked Villanova men's lacrosse squad fell by a score of 11-9 to the 11th ranked team in the nation, the Lehigh Mountain Hawks. Villanova falls to 0-1 on the season, while Lehigh improves to 2-0. Senior attackman Jack Rice led the way for Nova with 3 goals.
Villanova came out of the gates strong, leading 3-1 after ten minutes, but the road team went on a 5 goal run to lead 6-3 before Nova sliced the deficit to 6-4 at the break. The Cats responded in the third quarter, tying the game at 7-7. Lehigh scored with a second left in the 3rd to take a one goal lead into the last quarter. The experienced Mountain Hawks didn't waver in the 4th quarter as they pulled out the 11-9 win.
The schedule does not get any easier as Villanova travels to Drexel on February 26th then hosts Delaware on March 2nd. Drexel lost to Virginia in overtime today.
