After dropping their season opener to Lehigh last Saturday, the Villanova men's lacrosse squad probably wanted to play a game soon thereafter. The schedule did not provide this opportunity though as the Cats will have not played a game for 10 days by the time Tuesday night rolls around. Hopefully this time will allow the Cats to better prepare for their next foe, the Drexel Dragons from the Colonial Athletic Association. The Wildcats enter the contest at 0-1 overall while Drexel is 1-1 on the season.
Drexel has fielded a strong lacrosse team over the last several years and this year is no different. Drexel is .500 with both games being decided by a goal. They opened the 2013 campaign losing 13-12 in an overtime thriller at perennial powerhouse Virginia. Their first win of the season came this past weekend when they rallied from a 6 goal deficit in the first quarter to take down the Albany Great Danes, 20-19.
The strength of this year's Drexel team is certainly their high-octane offense. The Dragons already have 6 players with 6 or more points through 2 games played. Containing the likes of Robert Church and Ben McIntosh will be crucial for the Cats to have a chance of earning their first victory. Nova should be able to exploit Drexel's suspect defense so expect a big night from the Wildcats' offensive weapons.
Game time is slated for 7 PM on Tuesday at Vidas Field on the campus of Drexel University.
