Lincoln Collins, the No. 9 rated recruit in Massachusetts according to Rivals, became the first commitment in Villanova's 2013 football recruiting class in early July 2012. Collins, who stands 6'4" and and weighs in at 180 lbs., committed to Villanova shortly after receiving an offer. He was also interested in Lehigh, Maine, Massachusetts, Rhode Island and Towson.
Collins joins Villanova at a good time, with the Wildcats graduating Kenny Miles, Dorian Wells and Norman White in 2012 with Joe Price the only returning WR who will be expected to be a major contributor in 2013.
While Collins saw the opportunity to play right away appealing, Villanova provided value outside of football as well.
"I wish I could play football forever, but obviously it's going to end at some point, and I think Villanova academically can set me up for life after football."
Collins' high school coach Joe Gaff echoed those sentiments following his commitment.
"He liked it from the beginning, especially the academics of it. He wanted the academics. Just when he stepped on campus, he really loved the campus itself."
