On Saturday afternoon at PPL Park, the Villanova men's lacrosse squad lost a 13-9 decision to the #18 Penn Quakers. The game was a part of a triple-header at the Whitman's Sampler Independence Classic. With the loss, Nova falls to 1-4 on the season, while Penn goes to 4-1. Max Hart and Jack Rice paced the Cats with 4 and 3 goals each, respectively. Three players recorded hat tricks for the Quakers, including Zack Losco, Isaac Bock, and Nick Doktor.
Another week and another game of blown leads for Villanova. The Wildcats started off strong and twice held a 2 goal margin in the first half. Even after the 3rd quarter, Nova was only down 10-9 but Penn used a 3 goal unanswered run in the 4th quarter to close out the Cats. Right now, Villanova has no answers for their 4th quarter breakdowns, but one would think there would be some lineup changes on the horizon.
If the Cats don't figure some things out quickly, it could get ugly next weekend at Villanova Stadium. The #1 Maryland Terrapins come to town on Saturday night at 7 PM.
