Allerik Freeman opens up recruitment

Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

Alex Kline is noting that Allerick Freeman has opened up his recruitment again following UCLA's departure of Ben Howland and the Buins' hiring of Steve Alford.

Freeman, a 6'4" shooting guard, is rated as a 4-Star recruit by Scout, ESPN, and Rivals and is set to graduate from Findlay Prep in Nevada.

Villanova was in his final three along with UCLA & Kansas and had an official visit scheduled for the Main Line in September. However, the North Carolina native gave a verbal to the Bruins after making his official visit to Westwood in September. Duke and Ohio State were also in the picture.

As noted earlier today, Villanova has three open scholarship spots for the Class of 2013, but the Villanova coaching staff may feel that Freeman and Josh Hart may play the same role for the Wildcats.
