Happy Thursday, 'Nova Nation! A lot going on the past few days, and I want to make sure everyone checks out Ed's Wisdom of Crowds Review. We're talking about who exceeded expectations, who met expectations, and who failed to meet expectations for Villanova this season.

I think some of the names on each list will surprise you - but that probably speaks more to our lousy expectations than to the actual performances of the player.

Former Big East to be named American Athletic Conference - ESPN
The American Athletic Conference is the new name for the former Big East Conference, according to sources. I mean, you've just gotta love it.

Wildcats Rally Past Georgetown for Victory, Defeat Hoyas 8-6 - Villanova University Official Athletic Site
Led by the standout performances of freshman John Kluh and junior John LoCascio, the Villanova Wildcats (3-6, 2-0) posted an 8-6 victory over Georgetown (4-6, 1-1) at Multi-Sport Field in Washington, D.C. The win may have given Villanova the advantage it needed to make the BIG EAST Tournament.

Ranking the best college basketball sideline celebrations this season - USA Today
As you might have expected, when USA Today put together their list of the best bench celebrations in college basketball this season, Villanova's benchmob was one of the top performers. These guys are true pro's at supporting their teammates.

Courter Pitches Wildcats Past La Salle, 3-1 - Villanova University Official Athletic Site
Sophomore pitcher Jeff Courter (Maple Glen, Pa.) made his first collegiate start a memorable one on Wednesday afternoon, as he pitched 8 1/3 innings without allowing an unearned run and pitched Villanova (8-19) to a 3-1 victory over La Salle (9-16) at the Villanova Ballpark at Plymouth to earn his first career victory. Courter (1-0, 5.23 ERA) allowed just five hits - all singles - while walking two and striking out three in a terrific outing.

Philadelphia college basketball is legendary. For those who remember how the Big 5 used to be, I'm proposing an annual triple-header involving all six city schools to be held at the Palestra. I'm not a huge fan of the Big 5, but if we're talking triple-header, sign me up!
