It only took one night following the completion of the 2012-13 College Basketball Season for reporters and pundits to start looking at the ranking of next season's teams.
Of course, teams are still in flux as early departures are just beginning to be known, but the first handful of pre-season rankings are being published.
USA Today launched their forecast for the 2013-14 College Basketball Top 25 and placed Villanova at #17. Scott Gleeson goes on to note:
The Wildcats' up-and-down play (beat Syracuse, Louisville and Georgetown, lose to Seton Hall, Providence and Columbia) can be tied directly to the team's overall youth and lack of experience. Those two negatives should no longer be an issue this coming season, when players like JayVaughn Pinkston, Ryan Arcidiacono and Darrun Hilliard are a year wiser.
Jason King at ESPN posted his Top 25; a list that didn't include a rank Nova squad, but had the Wildcats in the "15 others to watch" category.
What do you think? Do you think Jay Wright's squad will be ranked entering the 2013-14 season? Will the year of experience for Ryan Arcidiacono, Daniel Ochefu, and Darrun Hilliard help elevate the team? Can the team form around a single big man? Will JayVaughn Pinkston turn in an all-conference junior year?
Sound off in the comments.
