Mike Corrado's Villanova lacrosse squad started the season 2-6. However, since then, the Wildcats have gone 5-1 en route to winning the BIG EAST Regular Season title and after a 15-12 victory over Georgetown on Thursday, find themselves in the Conference Tournament Final.
'Nova (7-7) was paced by Jack Rice who finished the game with 5 goals. In an even match through the first quarter, Nova's possession game inched the 'Cats away from the Hoyas in the second quarter entering halftime with a 7-3 edge. VU, held the advantage for the second half as the Wildcats won the semifinal game.
The 5-goal output for Rice, puts the senior attack at 123 126 career scores; second on Villanova's All-Time Goal list.
Villanova advances to the BIG EAST Final on Saturday when they will take on second-seed Syracuse (12-3) who defeated Notre Dame, 9-3 in the other semifinal. The game is slated to start at 12p from Villanova Stadium and will be available on ESPN-U & espn3.com.
Cuse & Nova met earlier this season on March 23rd- an 11-10 Villanova victory.
