Villanova Basketball Recruiting: Derrick Jones, Small Forward, Class of 2015

The local prospect already has an offer from Villanova, and his stock is soaring.

Philadelphia has always been a hotbed of basketball talent for Jay Wright, and that looks to be the case again in the class of 2015. Derrick Jones is a 6'7" 180 lb. wing from Radnor, PA who plays his high school ball for Archbishop Carroll and his AAU ball for WE-R-1 (the same AAU program as Ben Bentil).

Jones is already reporting offers from Villanova, Syracuse, Cincinnati, Xavier, Temple, Kansas State, amongst others. He was the unanimous star of the Pitt Jam Fest in late April, which you can read about here, here, here, and here.

Currently ranked #37 in the Rivals Top 50 for 2015, Jones should see a bump in his rankings based on his impressive displays so far this spring, according to Eric Bossi.

The 6-foot-6 wing player is a high-level athlete with a great first step. His athleticism allows him to physically dominate opponents, and he shows signs that his skill level isn't bad, either.

With 2014 recruiting really starting to just heat up, Jones' recruitment is a little ways off yet, but he appears to be the next big Philly prospect that will attract national attention. Will Jay Wright be able to keep him close to home?
