Ja'Quan Newton is one of the top targets for the Villanova Wildcats in the class of 2014, and the good news is that Newton likes Villanova, according to a recent interview with CBS' Jeff Borzello.
"I like Villanova a lot," Newton said. "I like the way they play, I like the coaching staff, and I also like their facilities."
That's good news for Wildcats fans, as it's imperative for Jay Wright and staff to keep elite local talent home as they look to return to the upper echelon of college basketball after a couple of difficult seasons. Newton, along with Maryland's Phil Booth, are the top backcourt prospects that Villanova is involved with.
As has been the case with Newton throughout the spring and early summer, however, he insists that he doesn't have any favorite schools and is not any closer to making a commitment.
"I don't have any favorites or anything like that," Newton said. "I'm just going to wait until I come around and it's time to choose, and then choose my school."
When it comes time to choose, Villanova looks like it will be in the conversation.
