The Big East conference will launch its inaugural league schedule on New Years Eve, with every game in action, according to a release from Fox Sports. The network will be airing every Big East team on December 31 in a five-game marathon event to ring in the New Year.
Villanova will open its conference slate in Indianapolis, facing new conference foe Butler at the historic Hinkle Fieldhouse. According to the release:
The Big East Conference schedule begins with a five-game, all-teams-featured New Year's Eve marathon on Dec. 31 (St. John's at Xavier, noon ET; Seton Hall at Providence, 2:30 p.m. ET; DePaul at Georgetown, 5 p.m. ET; Villanova at Butler, 7:30 p.m. ET; and Marquette at Creighton, 10 p.m. ET). The Big East Men's Basketball Tournament runs March 12-15, live from Madison Square Garden in New York City
Fans will get to ring in 2014 with the new Big East conference this year. Fox is obviously hoping that they can promote a made-for-television event that will provide the "yin" to the New Years Day Bowl games' "yang" with this arrangement.
