Fresh off a bronze medal with Lithuania at the FIBA U-19 Championships, Martin Geben is currently playing well with Team Takeover at the Nike Peach Jam. Geben collected an offer from Villanova in late April and has seen his stock soaring since the AAU circuit began to heat up. Currently holding 17 scholarships offers, the most recent are coming from high-major programs with Maryland, Notre Dame, Marquette and Virginia among the latest to offer.
Alex Prewitt of the Washington Post had a nice interview with Martin Geben, and in that conversation Geben let it be known that he's trimmed hist list to 4 schools: Virginia, Villanova, Maryland and Notre Dame.
Known more as a stretch-4, at 6'9" 230 pounds Geben can play both in and out of the post, and possesses good range on his jumpshot. In a lot of ways, his game is similar to 2015 Villanova verbal Tim Delaney - perhaps an indication of what Jay Wright is looking for out of his frontcourt going forward.
Jay Wright was at the Peach Jam on Friday watching Team Takeover, and with recent reports suggesting Villanova may be out with Ben Bentil, Geben could become the top priority.
