Rising Villanova sophomore Dylan Ennis has been named to Jamaica's 12-man roster for the upcoming FIBA Americas tournament.
The squad is currently in Toronto, where they will take on Team Canada on Thursday and Saturday. The announcement may come to a surprise to many Villanova fans as head coach Jay Wright noted back in June that Ennis would not participate because he would "miss too much school."
The FIBA Americas tournament will be held in Caracas, Venezuela from August 30th through September 11th. The top four finishers in the tournament will advance to the 2014 FIBA World Cup in Spain.
The Jamaican team qualified for the Americas tournament for the first time after the team (including Ennis) completed their historic third place in the Centro tournament last year.
The Americas tournament is a qualifier for the FIBA World Championships which will be held in France in 2014. The top 4 teams will advance will advance.
