CAA Football Preview Week 2: Otis! My Man!

Delaware as Dean Wormer, Danny Rocco as Bluto and Terry Bowden as Flounder. What's not to like?

Charles LeClaire-USA TODAY Sport

It looks like a good week of football ahead for the CAA, with four games available to watch on ESPN3, and one game available on the nationally broadcast NBC Sports Network. Make sure to check out our CAA football week 1 recap in case you need to catch up on what happened last week (it was a good week for the conference).

Here's this week's preview, to the theme of Animal House, which I watched last night while battling a nice bout of insomnia.

Saturday September 7th

Towson (1-0, 0-0 CAA) vs. Holy Cross (0-1, 0-0 Patriot League) -- 1:00 pm ET

In which Towson are the big black guys from the club, Holy Cross' coaching staff are the Delta's, and the Holy Cross players are the dates.

Stony Brook (0-0, 0-0 CAA) vs. Rhode Island (0-1, 0-0 CAA) -- 1:00 pm ET

In which Rhody is Kevin Bacon and Stony Brook any team is Doug Neidermeyer.

Maine (1-0, 0-0 CAA) vs. Massachusetts (0-1, 0-0 MAC) -- 2:00 pm ET, ESPN3

Saturday MACtion is nowhere near as good as Wednesday/Thursday MACtion. Kind of like how the Omega pledge party was a piece of crap compared to the Delta's. Or who knows, maybe Jugdish throws a touchdown?

New Hampshire (0-0, 0-0 CAA) vs. Central Michigan (0-1, 0-0 MAC) -- 3:00 pm ET, ESPN3

I envision both quarterbacks trying to replicate the food fight scene. This game will probably approach double digit turnovers and yet approach 60 points total. A complete trainwreck. Must see TV.

Delaware State (0-0, 0-0 MEAC) vs. Delaware (1-0, 0-0 CAA) -- 3:30 pm ET, NBC Sports Network

How did this game get nationally televised? It reeks of the sort of political corruption that only Delaware could partake in, sort of like Dean Wormer selling out to the mayor to host the homecoming parade. Hopefully it bites Delaware in the ass.

Richmond (1-0, 0-0 CAA) vs. North Carolina St. (1-0, 0-0 ACC) -- 6:00 pm ET, ESPN3

Richmond head coach Danny Rocco's halftime strategy as he enters the locker room down by 4 touchdowns.

;

James Madison (1-0, 0-0 CAA) vs. Akron (0-1, 0-0 MAC) -- 6:00 pm ET, ESPN3

Terry Bowden, coming off a 1-11 season, is all like MY FATHER IS BOBBY BOWDEN I'M A COACHING LEGACY! I HAVE TO STRIKE GOLD AT ONE OF THESE SCHOOLS!

Albany (0-1, 0-0 CAA) vs. Colgate (0-1, 0-0 Patriot League) -- 6:00 pm ET

I've already got Albany on double secret probation after their opening week loss to Duquesne. If they can't be Colgate we might have to put them in a duplex with Rhody in Providence. John Marinatto will be the super in the building, so nothing will ever get fixed.

Hampton (0-1, 0-0 MEAC) vs. William & Mary (0-1, 0-0 CAA) -- 7:00 pm ET

I imagine this was the scene in the Hampton locker room after they were raked over the coals 42-9 last week by Western Illinois. Pinto is the kicker, leading the way.
