Happy Thursday, 'Nova Nation! I want to again call out the excellent work done by our very own Brian Ewart in detailing the trials and tribulations of incoming football recruit Mark Clements, who orginally committed to Villanova in 2011 and was derailed by false cheating accusations on his SAT and a battle with cancer (that he's winning). He'll be signing in LOI in a few weeks.
It is in my opinion the best piece of work I've seen on this site, and I know how much time and effort went into it. Well done B.
And now, the "news."
Villanova's winning ensemble | Philly.com
Have you noticed the consistent coverage in the Philly media lately? Because I have. Dick Jerardi details just how hard it is to stop this team - the depth, and their execution in the important aspects of the game, is elite.
Freshmen learning quickly at Villanova | Philly.com
Villanova basketball coach Jay Wright has a pleasant problem - finding more minutes for two freshman rotation players, 6-foot-5 guard Josh Hart and 6-6 forward Kris Jenkins.
Debunking the myth that Jay Wright is only good at recruiting | Face on Villanova Theater
Darrun Hilliard is definitely the prime example of a "Jay Wright" player, if that's a thing. Rated 2 or 3 stars coming out of high school - he's become one of the best players on the team, and excels in multiple areas that are crucial to Villanova's success.
Villanova’s Ventrone Two Wins Away From Super Bowl Ring | CBS Philly
Damnit, now I have to root for the Niners because of Bubba.
Bracketology: Holding steady (for the most part) in mid-January | SBNation.com
While the top four seeds from Chris Dobbertean's first real bracket projection of the season remain in place for another week, the bottom of the at-large pool is as muddled as you would expect with two months left before Selection Sunday. Villanova currently sits on the 2-line.
Kyle Lowry outlasts everyone | Deadspin
That's some serious hangtime, and a fantastic finish. Sort of reminds me of Lowry's and-1 vs. Oklahoma my freshmen year right before the half. Wish I would have gotten to see more than one year of him at 'Nova!
Former Villanova coach Curtis Bray passed away at age 43 | The Gazette
Bray was the Iowa St. Cyclones' defensive line coach for five years. He previously was on the Villanova football staff from 1997-1999. H/T to MikeJ. for nothing this. R.IP. Curtis and best wishes to his family.
