The Sun's Arizin: Villanova Wildcats news and links for January 23, 2014

Daily Villanova Wildcats links, today featuring the Coyer twins, the magic of the Palestra, and more lawyers!

Hello Thursday! Was anybody else watching college hoops last night? Because I was. And man was it a rough night to be a ranked team. Wisconsin? Double-digit loss to Minnesota. Down went Iowa, to Michigan. And UMass fell apart on the road at Richmond.

Go on Big Ten. Beat the crap out of each other.

And now, the "news."

Coyer twins make their mark at Villanova |
It didn’t take long for Caroline and Katherine Coyer to make an impact on Oakton’s basketball program. Nowadays, the sisters are sharpening their craft at Villanova.

At the Palestra, one thing is clear: ‘There’s nothing like playing in this place’ | The Washington Post
Jay Wright was transfixed to the TV. So maybe, let's get involved next time.

Amid declining job market, Villanova boosts law scholarships |
Villanova University Law School said Tuesday that it would double the number of full scholarships available to members of the incoming 2014 class, to as many as 50. So if the job market isn't good for lawyers, we bring in more lawyers? I'm confused.

NBA Draft 2014: Joel Embiid leads SB Nation's early big board |
As expected, no Villanovans on the list. I'm surprised at the list after the top 5 though (and I've never seen Exum play so no comment on him). I wonder when the NBA will value performance over potential. Only a few organizations have gotten that right in recent year.

Helping Madden: Give to a charity, and put yourself in the running for a Breaking Madden slot |
The season finale of Breaking Madden happens next week, and for the first time ever, we're going to use it as an instrument for good instead of evil. Donate to a charity of your choice, and you'll have a chance to be in the game. Here's how.

The Sordid End of David Meggett |
#Longform alert. He was an All-Pro running back. He became a serial rapist.

Meet the Bourdains |
Double #Longform! Anthony and Ottavia on MMA, radioactive monkey colons, In-N-Out vs. Five Guys, the world's best beef, and "bro-food." I met him once at a bar. He was wacky.
