Some big news from the Villanova football staff broke yesterday, as wide receiver Kevin Gulyas tweeted that strength & conditioning coach Phil Matusz is leaving the Main Line and heading to the FBS ranks, where he will accept a job with the Ohio St. Buckeyes football program. No official word yet on what position Matusz has accepted in Columbus, but it appears likely that he will take the assistant S&C job, vacated by Rick Court who recently left to take the head job at Mississippi St (H/T to Matt Brown from Land Grant Holy Land).
Villanova lost a great coach, and @OhioStFootball gained one. Good luck to Coach Phil Matusz in Columbus #O-H...

Matusz graduated Villanova in 2010, jumpstarting his career as an intern in the Villanova S&C office. After a one season hiatus from the Main Line at North Carolina A&T, Matusz became the Olympic Sports Strength & Conditioning coach in 2011. When head S&C coach Justus Galac accepted a job with the New York Jets organization in 2012, Matusz took over the head job.
Andy Talley is losing a good one in Matusz, who was a three-year starter for the football program, as well as a team captain for the 2009 National Championship team.
Best of luck to Phil as he heads to Columbus.
