Last Season: The Seton Hall Pirates had a 17-17 (6-12) record last season.
Last Meeting/All-Time Series: The Villanova Wildcats lead the very long history of this rivalry 64-38. The Wildcats won both regular season meetings by scores of 83-67 and 70-53, respectively. The Big East Tournament never happened.
Head Coach: Kevin Willard is entering his 5th year with the Pirates. Last year, while only sporting a 0.500 record, was the high point of Willard's tenure. Their season sweep of the Georgetown Hoyas was the first since 2001. Jared Sina's selection to the All-Big East Rookie Team, the first since 2007-2008. Fuquan Edwin took home Big East Defensive POY which had not been done for SHU in over 2 decades. These awards speak volumes of Willard's recruiting.
Top Returners: Sina is a big return for the Pirates as he will take over a larger portion of the ball handling. Sterling Gibbs, second on the team in scoring and first in assists, will enter his Junior year. Gibbs had the buzzer-beater in last year's Big East Tournament.
Key Losses: Fuquan Edwin and Eugene Teague are HUGE losses for this team, both to graduation. Edwin provided leadership and elite defense. Teague was the leading rebounder with 7.9 RPG last year.
Key Additions: The Pirates welcome seven true freshmen and one redshirt. The most notable freshman is 5-star SG Isaiah Whitehead. Angel Delgado is a 4-star PF. According to ESPN Recruiting, six freshmen are rated at least 3-star.
