When Rollie Massimino's return to the Pavilion for the 20014-15 season was noted in July, it was easy to surmise that an event celebrating the 30th Anniversary of Villanova's 1985 National Championship was being planned.

On Monday, Vilanova announced preliminary plans for the November 4th game between the Wildcats and Massimino's Northwood squad to honor the milestone. In addition to the game between Jay Wright's squad and Mass's Seahawks being broadcast on Fox Sports 1, the game will serve as a homecoming for many VU Hoopsters.

In addition to the 1985 team, dozens of former Wildcats players from all eras are expected to attend. The year 1985 will also be a focal point inside the Pavilion that night with music and other twists designed to recapture the flavor of the time in which the Wildcats crafted memories.

This is not the first time that Coach Massimino has arranged a game between his former and current schools. Villanova played Northwood (FL) in their exhibition game to open up the 2006 and 2008 seasons. Both resulted in large Wildcat victories as was expected, but gave fans the chance to see the man that brought glory to the Main Line in 1985 once more.

Plan of Events

  • "An interactive fan experience" with the 1985 Team at 5p. Villanova fans will have the chance to meet and greet players and coaches from that iconic team and also collect autographs.
  • 20-30 minutes before tipoff, a special on-court ceremony will honor the 1985 National Champions.
  • Tipoff is slated for 7p.
