Tim Delaney officially signs with Villanova

The forward will add needed size and shooting ability to the roster.

On the first day of the early signing period for high school basketball players, Tim Delaney signed his National Letter of Intent to continue his basketball career at Villanova. Delaney, a 6'9" 225 pound forward, committed to Villanova almost 18 months ago on June 19, 2013. Many see Delaney as a 'stretch 4' at the next level, and at the time of his verbal commitment he held offers from Penn State, Oregon State, Rutgers, St. Joseph's (PA) and La Salle.

Here's Jay Wright on Delaney:

"Tim is an outstanding young man who has size, skill, and a great basketball IQ. He comes from a loyal basketball family and a storied prep school at Blair Academy where he is being taught well by coach Joe Mategna. He is going to be a big part of Villanova's future."

Delaney is a 3-star recruit who is ranked #168 nationally by the 247Composite, along with being the #41 power forward. His biggest strength right now is the range on his shot, which should make him an ideal fit in Villanova's ball-screen offense where he can play a pick-and-pop game with the Villanova guards. The threat of his shot will force defenses to stay honest and open up driving lanes for his teammates.

If you're looking to check out Delaney for yourself this winter, he transferred from Pitman (NJ) to Blair Academy (NJ) in an attempt to face a higher level of competition to prepare him for college ball.
