On the first day of the early signing period for high school basketball players, Jalen Brunson signed his National Letter of Intent to continue his career at Villanova. Brunson committed to Villanova on September 10th, just days after officially visiting Villanova. He chose the Wildcats over Illinois but also considered Michigan State, Purdue and Temple. A 6'1" 190 pound guard, he's considered to be the best pure point guard in the entire class and should contribute from day one on the Main Line.
"Jalen is a dynamic guard and the son of two outstanding college athletes in Sandra and Rick Brunson. He is an elite student and will bring energy and passion to the court and classroom at Villanova. The program at Stevenson is one of the best in Illinois and his coach, Eric Ambrose, is a well respected teacher of our game."

Brunson is a 5-star recruit who is ranked #19 nationally by the 247Composite. While he doesn't possess elite athleticism, he's a plus-passer and has a wide array of moves to break down a defender. When he does get to the hoop, he can finish with either hand consistently. He's also a very good shooter from both beyond the arc and mid-range. Long story short, he's likely the next superstar at Villanova.
Check out this highlight reel from Brunson's 56-point outburst in the state semifinals, where he went up against Jahlil Okafor who many consider to be the next #1 NBA draft pick, and Paul White (Georgetown freshman):
