Don Bosco LB Anthony Malaguti to play college football at Villanova

Villanova landed one of the top recruits from New Jersey.

Linebacker Anthony Malaguti is one of the best players on one of the best teams in the State of New Jersey, and next Fall, he will be standing on the turf at Villanova Stadium. The 6-2, 225-pounder committed to play for the Wildcats on Friday.

The North Jersey star played his sophomore year at Bergen Catholic before switching back to the powerhouse Don Bosco program. Despite receiving interest from the likes of Rutgers, Syracuse, Penn State and Virginia, his recruitment was ultimately a CAA-conference showdown, with offers coming from Delaware, JMU, Richmond and Villanova.

Malaguti played at both outside linebacker and middle linebacker in his prep career, but will likely play on the outside in college. He was not rated by ESPN, Scout, or 247Sports.

He told NJ.com that Rutgers, Penn State and Virginia were his leading contenders two weeks ago, but none of them have offered. Villanova did, and the Wildcats can offer him all of the things he told reporters that he was looking for: "Good academics, a good football program and a good business school."

He joins nine other known commitments in the Villanova football 2015 class: RB Jarrett McClenton, DL Bryan White, OL Keegan Sheedy, OL Louie Csaszar, RB D'Andre Pollard, QB Adeyemi Da Silva, LB Drew Wiley, ATH Brandon Chadbourn, and OL Ethan Greenidge.
