Tyus Battle, a consensus 5-star shooting guard prospect in the class of 2016, trimmed his list to 11 schools on Monday morning, and Villanova has made the cut.

Looking at that list of schools, this is more non-news than something to be excited about - almost everyone listed there has been involved with Battle for the better part of a year but for a player of his caliber, it makes sense to publicly do this and start to focus on the schools you can see yourself at.
The 6'6 Battle has seen plenty of Villanova in the last 6 months. He visited last season for a game and then took an unofficial visit to campus in early June. Jay Wright took a trip to Gil St. Bernard's in early September to make his pitch to the Battle's.
Looking at the competition for Battle, it's going to be tough to bring him to the Main Line. Duke is thought to be the odds-on favorite at this junction, but Gary Battle (Tyus' father) has had good things to say about Villanova in the past and Tyus himself continues to stress the importance of academics in his decison.
No timetable is currently set for an announcement, but it's likely we will see another trimmed down list of schools before that. Stay tuned.
