College basketball rankings, week 6: Kentucky remains #1, Villanova holds at #7

Villanova remains highly regarded in the newest AP Top 25 Poll. After defeating Syracuse in overtime and remaining undefeated, the media held the Wildcats at the #7 spot.

Kentucky remains the #1 team in the country receiving all 65 First Place Votes for the third consecutive week. Duke, Arizona, Louisville, and Virginia round out the Top 5.

'Nova is joined in the Top 25 by Big East Conference friends St. John's at #17.

Jay Wright's Wildcats are also at the #7 spot in the USA Today Coaches Poll.

How the AP Pollsters Voted

Looking at the outliers, Ron Morris of The Slate in Columbia, SC put the Wildcats at the #3 spot behind Kentucky and Arizona. On the low end, Jeff Faraudo (Bay Area News Group), Rick Bozich (WDRB-Louisville), And T.J. Werre (WJTV in Mississippi) placed 'Nova at #10.

Locally, Joe Juliano (The Inquirer) put the 'Cats at #8 and Terry Toohey (DelCo Times) at #7.
