Villanova senior James Bell was named the Big East Conference Player of the Week, the conference announced Monday afternoon. Bell was also named the Big 5 Player of the Week as well.

Bell led the Wildcats to two wins last week by averaging 23.5 points and 7.0 rebounds through both contests. The senior guard shot 68 percent from the field and an outstanding 58.8 percent from long range, connecting on 10-for-17 from deep. During a 81-58 blowout of Xavier, Bell recorded 27 points and eight rebounds.

A native of Orlando, Florida, Bell is averaging 16 points and 5.8 rebounds per game, leading the No. 6 Wildcats in scoring while remaining second on the team in rebounding. The 6-foot-6, 225 pound athlete's play has been a major reason for Villanova's success in their 2013-14 campaign.

The Big 5 Player of the Week award is his third consecutive honor from the Philadelphia based conference.
