Chris Buchalski, a 6'4" 255 lb. athlete from Miller Place High School in Miller Place, NY has signed a National Letter of Intent to play football at Villanova, the school announced this morning. In high school he has played both LT and DE. Right now, Buchalski is a lot closer to the size needed to compete on the defensive at the college level, but he will likely end up playing on the offensive line at Villanova.
Chris Buchalski committed to Villanova in late-July, becoming the sixth verbal commitment of the 2014 class. Buchalski should provide cover and keep Villanova's recent strong offensive line depth going as he enters the weight program. Here is the depth chart heading into 2014:
Class | Name | Height | Weight |
---|---|---|---|
Senior | Vince Kowalski | 6'4" | 305 lbs. |
(RS) Junior | Brad Seaton | 6'8" | 290 lbs. |
(RS) Sophomore | Jake Prus | 6'4" | 285 lbs. |
Villanova returns eleven offensive linemen, including starting right tackle Vince Kowalski, who started for all of 2013. The one thing with the Villanova staff is that they have been known to shift players around to fit needs, so while their depth currently sits on the interior of the line, we'll likely see 1-2 players slide outside to try and shore up a unit that lost 3 starters from a season ago.
Most likely, he will redshirt for a season to work with the new strength and conditioning coach to add mass to his frame and prepare himself to take on some of the CAA's best defensive linemen at full speed.
