NCAA Tournament 2014: MikeJ's Picks

Here's my entry in the VU Hoops Bracket Challenge, have at it!

At first, you may look and think, "gee 3 #1 seeds" in the Final Four. Well... yeah. They're #1 seeds for a reason. The Counter to that is that I didn't put any 2-seeds in the Elite 8. So who knows where my head is.

In the South I have Florida Gators advancing out by beating Syracuse. The only notable upset in that bracket is that I think Kansas is going to be trumped in the Round of 32 by New Mexico.

In the West. Arizona, Arizona, Arizona. The Wildcats have a solid backcourt that can share the scoring. They're going to take down Doug McDermott's Bluejays (1-word) in the Regional Final.

BTW- the one-word'ing of 'Bluejays' is one of the most annoying thing I've had to accept this season with Creighton's joining of the Big East.

The MidWest's #1 seed, Wichita State is going to be my first exit this year. Not surprising, huh? Louisville is just a steam train on a mission right now that I don't see any team challenging them.

In the East, First, yes, I have 'Nova losing in the Sweet 16 to Iowa State. The Cyclones are very efficient and very good at making their shots. I have them ultimately losing to Virginia to represent the region. I wasn't a believer in the Cavaliers, but watching in the ACC Tourney converted me.

Ultimately, I have the bracket down to Florida & Louisville with the Gators taking home the Championship. Their combination of Offensive and Defensive balance and Senior Leadership make them the no-brainer choice to cut down the nets.
